Sand and Dust Weather in Northern China Sparks Environmental Stocks Boom in Financial Markets

Since April 9, sandy weather has appeared again in many places in northern China. Sandstorms occurred in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, and Beijing; strong sandstorms occurred locally in Xilin Gol, Baotou, Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, and Zhangjiakou, Hebei.

"Since the beginning of this year, there have been 8 sandstorms in our country. The sandstorm process since April 9 has reached the level of sandstorms. It is the second sandstorm process this year, which is weaker than the strong sandstorm process from March 19 to 24." Gui Hailin, the chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory, said at the online press conference on the theme of "Sand & Dust Weather" held by the China Meteorological Administration on April 11.

According to Hu Xiao, the chief meteorological analyst of China Weather Network, at about 15:00 on the 11th, the sand and dust had crossed the Yangtze River. After entering the Jiangnan area, there may be rainfall in the area, which will have a certain purification effect on the sand and dust. However, the rainfall cannot completely "wash" the sand and dust, and there is still some residual dust in North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, and other places. On the 12th, the area where the dust is located near the ground turns southerly, and the southerly airflow will transfer the dust to the north. There is a possibility of dust backflow in North China and the Huanghuai area.

On the evening of April 11, affected by the diffusion of cold air and the transmission of dust from the north, floating dust weather appeared in Shanghai, the concentration of PM10 reached moderate-severe pollution for a short time, and the horizontal visibility was 3-5 kilometers.

According to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, under the joint influence of the cold air and the Mongolian cyclone, the sand and dust weather range in the northern region will further expand from the 10th to the 11th. It is expected that from the 13th to the 14th, due to the influence of cold air and strong winds, sand-blowing or floating dust will also occur in the eastern part of Northwest China and North China.

Under the influence of dusty weather, many energy-saving and environmental protection stocks also rose suddenly.

Since sand and dust weather affects industrial production and transportation and can cause respiratory and other infectious diseases, this large-scale sand and dust weather will further disturb production and life and deserves continuous attention.
